Mexico: The Cookbook

$50.00

Mexico: The Cookbook is part of the #eastforkcookalong contest for February and March!

How does it work? Make any dish from the book, snap a pic, and post it on Instagram using the hashtag #eastforkcookalong. And no, you do not have to plate it on our pottery—any vessel will do! This book is so robust that we’re giving it two full months of air time, so you have until March 31st to submit your entries. One winner, drawn on April 1st, will get sent a bundle of prizes.

  • The definitive Bible of Mexican home-cooking! This book is truly revolutionary, easy to cook from, and looks gorgeous on your shelf.
  • By Margarita Carrillo Arronte, published by Phaidon
  • Try the blue crab soup, the chilies in walnut sauce and the nopales salad!
  • Over 650 recipes

This is Connie’s all-time favorite cookbook. Margarita Carillo Arronte is an all-star. She’s a Mexico City based chef and restaurateur, oversees Slow Food Baja, and was integral in the effort to get Mexican food recognized as a UNESCO cultural property.

Thankfully more folks in our Western North Carolina community are catching drift that Mexican cuisine is not just guacamole and cheese dip. The publisher tells us, “With a culinary history dating back 9,000 years, Mexican food draws influences from Aztec and Mayan Indians and is renowned for its use of fresh aromatic ingredients, colorful presentations and bold food combinations.”

Chicken in Sandals

Chicken in “Sandals"—just think about it, can you imagine what a sandal for a chicken would look like? Would it be a sling back? A thong? Leather? Rubber?
