An Update from Alex
A Letter from Asheville
Thirteen days have passed since Hurricane Helene ravaged our home of Western North Carolina. I've never witnessed such mass destruction before, nor have I seen such resilience, generosity, and tenacity of the human spirit in the face of chaos, grief, and loss.
Amid the rubble, strong, clear voices emerged, like that of Ponkho Bermejo from BeLoved Asheville, who wrote to their followers: “In the aftermath of destruction, we stand at the threshold of something powerful—rebuilding. Our homes, our hearts, and our community have felt the impact of Hurricane Helene, but now it is time to rise...We need hands, hearts, and hope. This is your chance to be part of something bigger—to help reconstruct not just houses, but dreams.”
In the days immediately following Helene, so many of you—new customers and old—stepped up to purchase and donate, allowing us to continue providing paychecks while our factories remained still and quiet. Five percent of those sales have been directed to grassroots organizations like BeLoved Asheville, who are on the ground supporting those most affected, and we will continue this effort through the end of the year.
If you’re discovering East Fork for the first time, welcome. We’re a tenacious little company, built by potters, writers, activists, and artists, driven by a simple and powerful mission:
In everything we do, set a beautiful and abundant table.
Your support makes it all possible.
With immense gratitude,
Alex
