Azurite

These azurite specimens come to us by way of our creative director Nicole’s dad, Bruce—a retired hand surgeon turned spelunker, hobby geologist and archaeologist. Azurite forms in copper-rich deposits and has been prized for its saturated blue color for centuries. Egyptians, Greeks and Mayans used it as a pigment, and it later became an important blue in Medieval and Renaissance painting. Each specimen was chosen for its particular combination of electric color, mineral texture and wonderfully strange shape. Put one on a bookshelf, beside a stack of art books or among the other oddities you’ve collected along the way.
