Medium Oval Baker

During R&D for the Oval Baker, we considered containment and ease of transport. We agonized over the handles and settled on a process which incorporated the handles into the mold, whereas most handles are attached after a form is shaped. We considered how easy it was to pull out of the oven and its generosity of depth.

The Medium Oval Baker is sized just right for a weeknight vegetable roast, or baked ziti for the new mom down the street. Build a visually pleasing tiramisu, or line with pastry for pot pie night with the D&D crew.

— Our bakeware is dishwasher and microwave safe and is oven safe up to 450 degrees.
— Always avoid open flames and stovetop use and be sure the bakeware is at least 2.5 inches away from any heat source in your oven. After removing from the oven, do not place hot bakeware on a markedly cold surface or in standing water, and please ensure it has cooled some before washing in the sink. The primary concern with any ceramic bakeware is rapid changes in temperature.
— Over time, your pots might accumulate mild cutlery marks. This is natural and part of the patina your pot will develop with time and use. These can be gently buffed away with warm water and scouring powder such as Bar Keeper's Friend. More information.

When creating new forms, we painstakingly prototype our pieces to meet our unique design standards and preferences as potters and people who like to cook. We test our products to withstand repeated use in the oven while maintaining the beauty and durability consistent with East Fork’s ethos.

We took on the challenge of designing a handle that could be pressed in one piece rather than attached after a form was pressed, saving both time and labor. We experimented with polymer handles and 3D printing until we found the right handle that released from the die.

Ceramic dinnerware can meet the full breadth and depth of its utility inside an oven, which is why it was so important for us to get it right during the design phase. We sought a form that could withstand repeated use and comfortably move from oven to table with functionality.

The Oval Roaster is deep and generous with handles that easily transport roasts, casseroles, or baked ziti from oven to table and back again. We wanted this particular pot, made for sharing meals and serving guests, to feel uniquely East Fork. That is, generous, thoughtful, and undeniably useful.
